The carrot harvester is an agricultural tool used to harvest carrots. This harvester works with a rotating roller which pulls the carrot out from the root and is transported on a conveyor belt in a tank located in most cases at the back of the machine. The carrot is a delicate vegetable to harvest, most likely due to the high aesthetic demands of consumer needs. Therefore, a careful harvest has the highest priority. Due to a high harvest volume and rising labour costs, it is out of the question to think of harvesting manually. Here the carrot harvester comes into play. The carrot harvester or potato harvester can be divided into three different categories. There are self-propelled harvesters, pulled harvesters and built-on harvesters. Self-propelled carrot harvesters can harvest up to four rows simultaneously. They are equipped with either a bunker or a lift for the immediate removal of crops. Pulled harvesters can harvest mostly up to 3 rows at a time. Also, they are equipped with either a bunker or a lift. The last variant is the built-on harvester; they have a three-point linkage and are used on smaller plots of land. The smallest available machines for carrot harvesting are only available as a single-row harvester. They are also equipped with either a bunker or a lift. Some carrot harvesters are also equipped with sorting tables. Most variants can be equipped with a head system for industrial carrots harvesting.
